The American Heart Association’s 2011 Start! Howard County Heart Walk – BGR once again sponsored and participated in the American Heart Association’s 2011 Start! Howard County Heart Walk.
BGR employees help lead the Gilchrist Hospice Care Taste and Auction of Howard County committee. The Taste is Hospice's annual fund-raiser and all proceeds generated help Hospice provide end-of-life care and services to those in need throughout the Howard County community.
BGR is pleased to be involved in Howard County's Adopt a Road program. Four times a year, our employees pick up litter and other debris on a stretch of Snowden River Parkway. Participating in the program is a fun and easy way to make a positive impact on the environment and help keep Howard County beautiful.
For almost 7 years, our Managing Partner, Marc Rubin, was the Treasurer of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce. He is now directing a strategic planning initiative for the chamber. We’re also proud that our employees are very active in this organization, serving on multiple committees and helping with events.
Each year near the Christmas holiday, regardless of religious affiliation, our staff enthusiastically supports the Toys for Tots program, contributing individually, as well as serving as a drop-off point.
One of our partners, Steve Wolf, serves on the board of directors of the Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund (jref), a non-profit that provides financing for emerging businesses.
Michelle Outerbridge, one of our accountants, serves on the board of HC Drug Free, an organization dedicated to stemming the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among teens.
Each year, our employees organize a food drive for Grass Roots Crisis Intervention Center, Howard County’s only homeless shelter.
At BGR, Jeans Fridays comes with some strings attached. Each year, our employees raise money for charity in exchange for wearing jeans on Fridays throughout the year. In 2010, the employees raised $1,300 and the firm matched the amount, for a $2,600 charitable donation.
This year, BGR is partnering with Home Instead Senior Care to provide gifts to seniors through their Be A Santa To A Senior program. The hope is to spread holiday cheer to lonely or financially-challenged seniors.
The staff of BGR is happy to have the opportunity to participate with Success In Style (SIS). Success In Style's mission is to assist women and men in crisis by providing business clothing in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor become employed and self sufficient.
BGR adopted a local Howard County School, Deep Run Elementary by collecting school supplies for children in need. The staff collected over 360 items, from backpacks to school boxes.
