Been there. Done that.
When you’ve been in business for over 70 years, you build up a lot of expertise. You see all the tricks, short cuts, and questionable behavior committed by bookkeepers, comptrollers, and CFOs. In cases of potential fraud, our Forensic Accounting team can review the situation, identify the likely problems, and recommend appropriate mitigation. We operate with discretion, cognizant of the fact that your suspicions might not be confirmed. In each case of potential fraud, the BGR team is led by a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) who follows applicable protocol to support criminal and civil legal proceedings.
Sometimes, however, there’s no fraud at all; just inadequate procedures that only forensic accounting methods can unravel. Such situations often require quick action, so we assemble the appropriate forensic team to complete the investigation as rapidly as possible.
BGR’s Forensic Accounting services include:
- Evaluating actual or potential fraud
- Quantifying losses and economic damages resulting from tort or breach of contract
- Resolving business valuation disputes
- Evaluating professional negligence claims
- Litigation support, consulting, and expert witness services
- Identifying hidden assets in cases of divorce or lawsuit damages
- Evaluating business transactions for “skimming” or other breach of agreement
- Setting up internal controls that help prevent fraud from occurring
