RUBIN NAMED ACCOUNTANT CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
Ellicott City, MD – April 9, 2007 – Berman Goldman & Ribakow, LLP is proud to announce that Marc Rubin, CPA, CVA has been selected by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as the 2007 Accountant Champion of the Year.
Marc is the managing partner of Berman Goldman & Ribakow and has over 30 years of experience in public accounting. His areas of expertise include auditing, tax planning and business valuations. He is also recognized for his in-depth knowledge of the real estate and restaurant industries.
His professional affiliations include serving as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), the AICPA's Management Accounting Practice (MAP) Network Group and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). In addition, he serves on the board of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the 2004-2005 class of Leadership Howard County.
LOWRY EARNS PREMIER VALUATION DESIGNATION
Ellicott City, MD – January 19, 2007 – Patuxent Valuation Group, LLP (PVG) is pleased to announce that Patrick Lowry, MBA, AVA earned the top notch valuation designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA).
To receive this accreditation, Mr. Lowry had to pass intensive courses and written examinations, submit representative appraisal reports, an appraisal experience log and meet educational requirements.
Additionally, Mr. Lowry must provide evidence of professional growth through continuing education and/or participation in professional activities to remain an accredited and designated ASA.
Mr. Lowry is a partner and founding member of PVG. He has performed hundreds of valuations, including: mergers & acquisitions, equity financings, S-corp conversions, share holder disputes, estate & gift taxes, litigation, ESOP and damage claims. He also works closely with emerging growth companies to prepare business and strategic plans, determine capital requirements and structure transactions. He holds an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston.

Ellicott City, MD – January 19, 2007 – Berman Goldman & Ribakow (BGR) is pleased to announce that on January 1st, 2007, David S. Mugmon, CPA, MST became a Partner of the firm. Mugmon has been with BGR since 1999. He is the chair of the firm’s Tax Department and works extensively with high net worth individuals to achieve estate planning goals and reduce income taxes. He concentrates his efforts with the firm’s business clients in the areas of tax and succession planning.
In addition, Mugmon has taught college accounting courses. He has authored several articles for local newspapers and the Tax Management Real Estate Journal. He also conducts seminars and has appeared on local TV and radio shows discussing various tax issues.
A graduate of American University’s Kogod School of Business, Mr. Mugmon holds a Masters of Science degree in Taxation. His professional affiliations include: membership in the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and Maryland Society of Accountants (MSA).
